Since opening his first law office in 2003, Mr. Swigart has been dedicated to representing individuals in California and nationwide, with a particular focus on class actions, privacy rights, and financial consumer protection. A passionate advocate for access to justice, Mr. Swigart has provided substantial pro bono legal services to underserved individuals across Southern California and has donated significant funds to legal aid organizations and law schools through Cypress Awards and other philanthropic efforts. Born and raised in Orange County, California, Mr. Swigart earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of California at Riverside, with a double emphasis in Accounting and Finance. He went on to attend California Western School of Law on an academic scholarship, graduating cum laude. Mr. Swigart is licensed to practice law in California, Washington D.C., Washington State, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Throughout his career, Mr. Swigart has served as lead or co-lead counsel in dozens of class actions that have not only returned millions of dollars to consumers, but have also shaped the development of consumer protection law across state and federal courts. He has successfully litigated groundbreaking cases involving: • The Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) — enforcing consumers’ rights against unlawful robocalls and text message spam; • The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and California’s Rosenthal Act — protecting consumers from abusive and misleading debt collection tactics; • The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) — securing relief for individuals harmed by inaccurate credit reporting and unauthorized disclosures of personal information; • California’s Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) — holding companies accountable for surreptitious recording, monitoring, or sharing of user communications; • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — enforcing the rights of Californians whose sensitive information was exposed in data breaches; • Unfair Competition Law (UCL) and Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) — combatting deceptive advertising and unlawful business practices; • Data breach class actions — representing consumers affected by mass exposures of health, financial, and personal information, often securing precedent-setting settlements and injunctive relief.
